The challenge was that the house located within a heritage overlay. Therefore the client wanted to keep the front of the house as it is and extend the existing house towards the back with some changes to the kitchen, rumpus, and Dining and office room.
One of the main requirements of the client was to get more winter sun in to the house.
External cladding/Blackbutt was used used to wrap and merge the old and new areas at the rear of the property, giving an elegant look to the new additions.
The saw tooth like roof with sloping/ raked ceiling allowed getting maximum sunlight in to the kitchen and other living spaces, including the home office during winter and all around the year.
Remotely adjustable Screening was used to control the sunlight when required.
